The Valley Trust (TVT) is proud to be a recipient of a donation of toys from Toys R Us . The toys will be distributed to children from the Valley of 1,000 Hills who are beneficiaries of TVT’s Khula Kahle Mntwana (KKM) Project.
The Valley Trust’s flagship programme is the Khula Kahle Mntwana (isiZulu for ‘Grow Well, Child’) Project, which helps caregivers take better care of their young children. Annually we impact 1,700 children through educating their caregivers in child health and parenting, assisting with vegetable gardens and financial savings as well as providing psychosocial support.
The project targets children and caregivers in their homes and seeks to adopt a holistic view to meeting the development needs of young children Although TVT has a toy library where our facilitators access educational material for use by the children, the toys and books are handed back so they can be used by others. Our current toy drive seeks to give each household their own set of toys and children’s plastic tables and chairs.
We partnered with the community, We Friends Pre-School and The Hillcrest Aids Centre who so kindly offered to be a toy drop off point.
Our aim is for every child to receive their very own set of educational toys.
We know that these toys are going to assist our children ‘learn as they play’.
